Tofu Skewers

Bring out your barbeque grill because these 100% plant-based, sweet and spicy tofu skewers are the perfect summer cookout food to impress and serve your friends and family.

Chef’s note:

These 100% plant-based BBQ skewers also make for a delicious baked dish when prepared using extra-firm tofu. Make sure to not overcook it.


Ingredients:

  • 3 tablespoons of Boombay’s Smoked Chilli + Jaggery Dressing
  • 1 packet of Extra Firm Tofu
  • 1 small Cabbage
  • 1 small Carrot
  • 5 to 6 Skewers

Method

Prep
  1. Shred the cabbage into fine strips and julienne the carrots 
  2. Drain the water from the tofu and cut it to equal thickness vertically 
  3. Marinate the tofu with 1 tablespoon of our Smoked Chilli + Jaggery Dressing 
  4. Soak the skewers in water for half an hour

Cook
  1. Heat the grill pan or cast-iron pan or a non-stick pan and grease it evenly with oil
  2. Arrange the tofu skewers on the pan and cook until golden brown with grill marks on the tofu
  3. Once done, remove the tofu skewers from the pan and if required, remove the grilled tofu from the skewer sticks 
  4. Add carrot and cabbage to a bowl and massage it with salt, pepper and lemon juice
  5. Serve it as a side salad for the tofu skewer
  6. Arrange the tofu skewers on a plate and add our Smoked Chilli + Jaggery Dressing to a bowl
  7. Dip the tofu skewers in our dressing and enjoy
